Chancellor Mark Nordenberg was thanked and honored for his 18 years of service as Chancellor at a May 12 reception. All staff and faculty were invited to the event, which was jointly sponsored by the Staff Association Council and the University Senate.
The two organizations teamed together to plan and provide funds for a pair of commemorative benches to be placed outside of the Chancellor's window on the Heinz Chapel side of the Cathedral of Learning The benches will be named for the Chancellor and Dr. Nikki Pirillo Nordenberg in appreciation of their dedication to the University staff and faculty.
In addition, both the Staff Association Council and University Senate announced special scholarship funds to be established in Chancellor Nordenberg's name. Provost Patricia Beeson also announced that a special book is being published to give to the Chancellor. The book will contain words and pictures provided by University community members that recount their experiences and memories of the Chancellor.
The benches were completed and dedicated in October of 2014 with a ceremony.
